Now this is not part of our little game to see if I can turn $600 into $5,000 in one month.
The Kentucky Derby will have about 13 horses running in it. If there was no houses take that average pay off would then be 13 to 1. But the house take at Churchill Downs is 33% or the average payout will be under 9 to 1!!!
9 to 1 is average.
The top half of the horses will be paying on average of a fraction of this.
In other words if you were to bet $10 on the 6 favor horses you would have a $60 stake with the possiblilty of collecting about $60 if one of your 6 horses won the race (Less if it is the favor horse). The problem is you are betting to break even with the distint possibilty of a long shot coming in.
But now check this out from Nine.
Nine will take that bet that 1 of the 6 favors will win the race and gave you nearly even money back!!!!
Nine may know basketball, but I think they are a little fuzzy on horse racing - BEAT THEM UP!!!
