Can I brag about my winnings, or did I lose you folks money?

I know I started with $600. Retreated with $400. Signed up with a new book for $200. And cashed that book out for about $850.

My math says I'm up, but I do realize that not all my bets made it to the blog.

While I'm still crunching, lets get ready for April and opening day of Baseball.

I will have

$200 at Race book
And I haven't decided on the other $200. I would like to try a new book.

It's back to Fremont Street for me.

The Golden Gate is just $50 per night over the 4th of July weekend - just one room left though.

Other great choices are El Cortez, Fitzgerald, and the Golden Nugget.

I also love the Goldspike for it's cost and the best location of all of them. But that is not the hotel to be going to if you are taking a high maintence girl with you.

Not that anyone of are reading this, but my rules are never bet your way out of a hole.

I was really counting on Charlotte, New York, and Chicago to pull the upset. Figure what the heck just bet all the upsets.

You got to admit. Charlotte at 8 to 1 was sure exciting. To bad they lost by 2 in overtime.

Simple go back to what I was saying about betting the unders when the power hitting teams are playing each other and the overs when the base run hitting teams are playing each other.

Now common sense would then tell you bet the sure base hitting teams over the power hitting teams during pre-season.

Remember though folks, this is simply a tatic to win during pre-season. The day the opening season starts I might flip. After all the odds should flip good, plus the power hitters will be ready to play.

Without considering anything else - of course you must consider everything. But without considering anything else my suggestion to you in betting the pre-season baseball games point totals are as follows:

Take the 2 teams playing an ad the two number together depending on the group they are in, then divide by two. If you end up with a 1 to 2 - bet the under. If you end up with a 2.1 to 3.4 - don’t bet. If you end up with a 3.5 to 5 -bet the over.

This is only my pre-season suggestion and has nothing to do with the regular season. My thoughts on why this will make you money is as follows:

I myself am a middle age, out of shape, little white guy with little athletic ability. With some things I am right handed, other things I am left handed. It all depends on which muscle I use. When standing at the plate hitting a soft-ball (like a left handed person) all my muscles work in perfect harmony. It’s the oddest thing. I can’t do squat athletically other than hit a ball. I am usually the smallest most out of shape person on the softball team. I am also the power hitter. Now my perspective on this is from a grossly out of shape batter, but what I do know from my extreme example is that a man can only power hit so many times without injuring himself. A professional’s athlete’s risk of injury is far less than mine when hitting a baseball, but his risks of lost income are far greater than mine.

I’m simply betting the teams that depend on power hitters to score their runs won’t be risking their players health during pre-season.

I could not create a new post yesterday. This can get frustrating here. Sorry folks you missed out on the Syracuse money line - A nice underdog pick with a great pay-off.

The fastest at acknowledging it's money owed. Making it easier to roll the money over into the next game. Best parlay odds of the books recently tried here. On Friday they give 1/2 point discounts on the line, Although this is only for bets $200 and less. Usually takes seconds following the end of a game for them to credit your account. Nine is one of the quickest books to move a line. From time to time they were a full point different than my other books. A wide selection of games to bet on. Including many from lesser played college conferences. They were the fastest at transferring funds, I used Firepay with never a hitch.


Intertops
The greatest betting options available on college ball games. Including over/unders on games many other books don't even have a line for the team, Although they do cap these bets at $275. First to come out with the early morning lines. I have often bet with Intertops at 4 am. Forget which day of the week, but they do have half off on the juice from time to time. When a line moves Intertops is more incline to toy with the juice making 105/115 or even a 100/120 situation. When I have multiple books I like each one to have their own an different method of creating odds. Never a problem collecting. Takes about 36 hours to receive the money through Firepay

Oasis
Great promotions for both regular sport book bettors and race book bettors. The juice is normally discounted by 3 points. OASIS lines seem to favor the away team more than other books. Having them as one of your books gives you a great opportunity to shop the line. They have their rules on paying out. Can be a pain in the ass your first week, but then it gets easier.

Nearly every Joe and Jane will be putting $5.00 on their office pool. These folks will be seeking advise. They will take that advise, and then show off what they know.

Mass hysteria is ready to set in.

Here is a little interesting play that has been unfolding before our eyes. When two unknown schools played each other in the past week or two with spreads less than 4 points. The underdog kicked ass over and over again.

Everybody tries to show how smart they are by picking the underdog upset as one of their bets of they day. We all talk about he Cinderella teams and who they might be. They have recent facts to support their theories of what can and will happen. In fact opening round on March Madness supports their claims

Vegas knows!!!!

Vegas knows if team A is playing team B and A is favor by 2 1/2 point. It is team B that will get the positive press. If team A is favor by 6 1/2. It is then team A that will get the positive press. On the surfac this may seem backwards, but if you never realized the orginal line thought up was 4 1/2. You would despite all you think you know about basketball have a hard time detecting the 2 point swing. 99% of handicappers need to see someon elses thought and then use their knowlegde to tell you why one team is better than the other. There are one or two people out there that can independently handicap a game without knowing the spread, but these are few and far between. The mother load of handicappers are simply betting statistical trends. The same trends the odds maker are all fully aware of.

So if it is your job to invent a line to make money for the casino. And after all the number crunching you come up with a 4 1/2 spread for team A. What is the opening line?

Make "A" favor by 2 1/2 and everyone bets "B". Make "A" favor by 6 1/2 and everyone bets "A".

My hunch is that many of the 2 1/2 point lines we see are in fact favoring the favored by 2 points with anticipation that LOWERING the favor point requirement will actually trigger betting on the underdog.

What I like to do is first screen the way I think the house is thinking. This may give us 4 plays. Then look into the fundamentals of the teams and pick from there. It might be two games it might be all four. 2 points does not make anything a guarantee, it just hedges your odds.

Now this is not part of our little game to see if I can turn $600 into $5,000 in one month.

The Kentucky Derby will have about 13 horses running in it. If there was no houses take that average pay off would then be 13 to 1. But the house take at Churchill Downs is 33% or the average payout will be under 9 to 1!!!

9 to 1 is average.

The top half of the horses will be paying on average of a fraction of this.

In other words if you were to bet $10 on the 6 favor horses you would have a $60 stake with the possiblilty of collecting about $60 if one of your 6 horses won the race (Less if it is the favor horse). The problem is you are betting to break even with the distint possibilty of a long shot coming in.

But now check this out from Nine.

Nine will take that bet that 1 of the 6 favors will win the race and gave you nearly even money back!!!!

Nine may know basketball, but I think they are a little fuzzy on horse racing - BEAT THEM UP!!!

Damn near made an ass out of myself by ponding the table screaming "I WIN AGAIN I AM THE FUCKING GREATEST!!!" but then I remember we are playing here with a deposite of $200 into each of these books plus their bonus money. And I think playing with these limits are important simply because most bettors have real limits and need to stay within them. What good is the advise you take if the man that's giving it is playing with a pool of money far larger than you can lose? On this blog we start each month with our $200 deposit. If we go broke - It will happen sooner or later - we are broke for that month. But keep in mind. We won enough last month playing with our define limits. To play for 7 more months with the houses money!!!!

I may start giving my other plays to those on my e-mail list. But a fair warning here. A gambler has the right to lie about his money. I never did understood someone that won't talk about his income, the money in his bank account, the money in his house, and his retirement saving because these things are personal. And yet this same person would look me in the eye and ask me how much money I won or lost. Rather than tell him to mind his own business.
